Grant Committee Forming

Any member that would like to serve on the grant committe for 2010, please call the office at 214.565.0200. This activity will take a few hours of time to read and rank applications from various art organizations and attendance at one board meeting. This is an integral part of our mission to support the arts in Dallas and also very interesting. Please consider service in this area.

Grant Application Process Will Begin in April 2010

The mission of The 500, Inc., is to support the Arts of Dallas County. Since 1965, we have done this by funding specific projects of our beneficiaries. Among other things, to be eligible to receive a grant from The 500, Inc., an art group must be a tax-exempt organization under 501(c)3 of the IRS code and must have completed two years (seasons) of operations (performances) prior to applying for a grant. Holiday Market to Return November 20th and 21st

The 500, Inc. is sponsoring Holiday Market again this year. Plans are to return to the Richardson Civic Center on the weekend of November 20th and 21st. A committee is now being formed to begin working on this event, as there will be a number of changes this year.

The 500, Inc Distributes $30,300 in Grants

Voices of Change Grant: the 2008-2009 Season

Many people don’t realize The 500, Inc., funds projects and not just the organizations that put on those projects. Each year our beneficiaries submit a grant proposal detailing the project they would like us to fund. Dallas City Arts Coming May 7-9

2010 Dallas CityArts Festival

Mark your calendar for May 7-9, 2010, when the seventh annual CityArts Celebration will take place at Fair Park, a national historic landmark and American treasure that boasts the world’s largest collection of art deco exhibit buildings, art and sculpture, and seven outstanding museums. The free, community-based festival will encompass the Esplanade, the Automobile Building, Court of Honor, and the Lagoon. Festivities will be held both indoors and out and will include free admission to the Fair Park’s outstanding museums during specific hours.

The always-popular juried Art MarketPlace, will be coordinated by The 500, Inc. CityArts will be a larger show accommodating many more artists. Artfest will be on hiatus for 2010. So please mark your calendars for CityArts on May 7th-9th 2010.

Artists interested in participating in the show please e-mail cityarts@the500inc.org. Artists accepted for the show will be notified by the end of March, 2010.
